Degrees Offered
The College of Engineering offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation with specializations in Aviation Management and Professional Pilot. The degree consist of engineering foundation coursework, aviation core courses, and technical electives. Mathematics, physics, chemistry, and various engineering disciplines make up the engineering foundation. Our aviation program prepares well-rounded pilots who are equipped not only to run airports and fly planes, but to design, manage and operate aviation systems all over the world. For every pilot in an aircraft, there are at least 10 other aviation experts responsible for successfully planning and operating a flight. Other careers include airport and airline management, flight support and planning, government and regulatory oversight, and aviation research and development. The engineering foundation and aviation courses along with general education courses complete the degree program.

Professional Pilot
The Professional Pilot specialization results in students obtaining a private pilot’s license, an instrument rating, a commercial license, and either a multi-engine rating or a flight instructor’s certificate. To enter the Professional Pilot specialization, there is a competitive proactive interview to ensure that students understand the requirements, the curriculum, and our expectations. Careers for our graduates include flight instruction, charters, regional and national airlines, fractional operators, industrial aviation, business aviation, cargo aviation, and specialized flying.

Graduation requirements vary by curriculum. Please click on the above links to access curricula for each college. Flight training is not required for aviation management students, but may be taken as an elective.
